About NANSA
The Neurological And Neurodegenerative Disease Student Association (NANSA) is a student-run organization at the University of Toronto dedicated to fostering a passionate community of future neuroscientists, researchers and healthcare professionals.
Who We Are
Our Mission
To foster student interest in neurological and neurodegenerative disease research by providing meaningful opportunities for networking, mentorship, workshops, and career development — while raising awareness and funds for those affected by these diseases.
Background
Our Story
Founded in 2023, NANSA was established by a group of University of Toronto students united by a shared passion for understanding and combating neurological disease. Recognizing a gap in dedicated student-run spaces for this research area, our founding members set out to build a community where curiosity could thrive.
Since our founding, we have grown into one of U of T's most active neuroscience student organizations. We run seminars featuring leading researchers, coordinate one-on-one mentorship pairings, host career nights with industry professionals, and organize community fundraising campaigns for neurological disease charities.
Our membership spans undergraduate and graduate students from departments across the Faculty of Medicine, Life Sciences, and beyond. Whether you're exploring neuroscience for the first time or deep in your PhD research, NANSA has a place for you.
